The cost of plywood formwork compares favourably with that of timber shuttering and it may even prove cheaper in certain cases in view of the following considerations: The cost of plywood formwork is much reasonable as compared to timber shuttering. Thicker plywood is used when the weight of concrete is more and it causes the standard thickness plywood to bow out, disturbing the concrete face. But, if the formwork is curved, thinner plywood is used to make bending easier. On the site, the standard plywood thickness is 18mm and this is quite sufficient for most of the pours.
